The Evening Grounding Ritual
No rituals are considered prescriptive in Crömism. This is a simple ritual that can help you ground yourself at the end of each day.
Annual Holidays
- Prepare a Small Flame (Optional)
- Light a candle, lantern, etc.
- Let it serve as the Forge, glowing in the darkness.
- Gesture of Centering
- Bring your fists to your chest.
- With your head held up, close your eyes and take three deep breaths.
- With each exhale, imagine letting go of the day’s weight
- Invocation of the Forge
- Whisper (or think silently):“Forge, Fire, Hammer, Anvil"
- Choose one line to characterize your day:
- “I have been struck today.” → For hard, bruising days.
- “I have been honed today.” → For lighter days of refinement and subtle lessons.
- “I have been forged today.” → For days of power, action, or strong shaping.
- “I have been steadied today.” → For balanced or neutral days, when the work was about holding center rather than dramatic trial.
- Finish with "Quench me now in stillness, that I may be tempered for tomorrow.”.
- Silent Reflection
- Sit for 1–3 minutes, focusing on the warmth of your body and the rhythm of your breath.
- If your mind wanders, bring it back to the image of steel cooling in the quench, resting, hardening, becoming stronger.
- Closing Gesture
- Say aloud:“Tûr gaethol — it is done.”.
